Collateral Beauty: Business Movie Review

Reviewing this movie will teach Small Business Owners business strategies of Time, Love, and Death.

Collateral Beauty (2016) is a movie that the critics got all wrong! Everyone, except the critics, said that it was exceptionally well written and acted. Many expressed the relevancy of it’s multi-potent messages of living a life that matters. The acting supports you believing this is part of your life’s experience instead of just a movie.

The Brilliant Breakthroughs, Inc. Team believes this is a movie which will deepen your appreciation, support you connecting more with those who matter, and realign your priorities. Oh, and I guess I should mention it has the potential to significantly improve YOUR Business Performance too.

The story opens with a scene that is quickly forgotten. Howard (Will Smith’s character) is the creative genius of an agency who is celebrating its phenomenal success by recognizing all the team members’ efforts with a joyful party. The story progresses forward several years to reveal Howard is disconnected and not producing. His partners, who are also good friends, are concerned about him and the future of their business. What happens next is unconventional.  (Sorry, no spoilers here!)

Collateral Beauty Business Strategy #1
Time

In the movie, Howard’s life is shown with him living in two extremely different realities. Howard understands the value of time differently than most people because of an experience. Thus, he approaches life quite differently.

Do you allow time and life events to help you realign YOUR Business Strategies?

Time is a great motivator for Small Business Owners (SBOs). More often than not, SBOs aren’t the best at managing their time. FYI: As I’ve been saying for at least a decade, “There is no such thing time management, only productivity management.”

What changes could you make to your daily schedule to support you achieving YOUR Business Goals? Incremental changes usually support change better because it isn’t such a jolt – it’s easier to keep showing up and become a winner. How can you show up better to secure the win for YOUR Business?

Would starting work each day at a stated and dedicated time improve your game? What about not quitting the day prematurely? Perhaps learning a new productivity strategy or tool would benefit YOUR Performance. Pick one and start making incremental changes this week.

Collateral Beauty Business Strategy #2
Love

Love will find a way into everyone’s heart. The question is: “Will they notice it, when it arrives?” Howard and each of his partners have a love story occurring throughout the movie. Some of them are subtle, others not. Some are related to the other business strategies here. Love shows up in different ways to get their attention.

Do you love YOUR Business? Does it still excite you to oversee it and work within it? Is YOUR Enthusiasm strong enough to show up and consistently deliver?

Ah, if you’re like most SBOs there’s a bit of a Love-Hate relationship with YOUR Business. Don’t worry, it’s natural! Why? Just like life, business ownership requires us to do things we like and don’t like.

Yet, you started YOUR Business because you had a love or passion to serve YOUR Solution to YOUR Ideal Customers, right? Yep! Are you still in love with YOUR Business?

If yes, keep rocking it and find someone to help you achieve your deliverables in record time so you can it enjoy it and life even more. If your answer is no – go on a 2 week vacation, even a stay-cation, BUT you must shut-down YOUR Business for a full two weeks.

Why? To identify if you’re just a little crispy, burned-out, or is it time for you to sell YOUR Business and move on? You’ll know when you return. Act accordingly!

Collateral Beauty Business Strategy #3
Death

The topic of death makes most people feel uncomfortable so they don’t really address it. Howard’s experience with death deeply impacts him and those closest to him.

Sometimes death and loss become great motivators. I assure you that waiting for a great loss isn’t necessary to be motivated to make a difference!

You started or acquired YOUR Business because there was some solution you wanted to offer people needing assistance. Are you fulfilling YOUR Vision?

Is YOUR Solution getting into the lives of those who need it most? If not, what can you do to rectify this? Do you need to go back to the drawing board or do you need to scale up YOUR Business? Either way, it can be simpler than you’re imagining it to be right now.

Question: Do you know where the most potential on our planet is? … In the cemeteries!

Help YOUR Business fulfill it’s mission by stepping into what it needs most to deliver YOUR Solution.

If you’re saying, “Ooooh, I need to make some changes.”
