A Solid Business Purpose is a necessity for Small Business Owners (SBOs). Why? Without any doubt it will drive more customers and sales to you swiftly and streamline your marketing messages.
When people see your solid Business Purpose they immediately know the game you’re playing and can discern if you’re the right fit for them.
Typically they’ll do this through your literature or through reviewing your site and social media accounts. Heck, most of the time you don’t even know they’re sniffing you out!
Creating a solid Business Purpose is great because it magnetizes more customers and sales to you. Additionally it guides you as you develop YOUR Business. I don’t think anyone in their right mind would deny this.
When the message of YOUR Business Purpose is crystal clear, your marketplace instantly knows if they should gravitate toward considering your products and services.
But how does this happen? I assure you it doesn’t just happen!
SBOs who take the time to create a solid Business Purpose win each day their business is open because they have a clear message regarding what they do and how you’ll benefit as their customer.
Creating a solid Business Purpose isn’t always easy. When SBOs take the time to define why their business exists in their marketplace, they have clarity regarding the need of the marketplace and how their business offerings provides a solution.
When you create a solid Business Purpose, all your efforts and marketing messages are like an arrow zeroing in on the bulls-eye. The marketplace isn’t confuse why they should come to you and make a purchase.
One simple sentence as to why YOUR Business exists.
There’s nothing sexy about this. The sentence is pretty no-nonsense. It defines why you formed YOUR Business in the first place.
NOTE: Don’t bring passion into this, it’s factual. (Passion is reserved for YOUR Vision Statement.)
Think of a solid Business Purpose as one that defines what need you fill for YOUR Customers.
I’ll share mine: I created my business because I don’t want Small Business Owners to unnecessarily struggle.
YOUR Business Purpose is a matter of fact.
It differs from YOUR XYZ Statement, which defines (X) who you serve, (Y) what you do, and (Z) the benefits they gain from your service.
My XYZ Statement is: I guide Small Business Owners to simplify strategies and align actions to build a profitable and peace-filled business so they can step into their potential.
As you see, these two statements are very different.
And guess what? An XYZ Statement doesn’t get created unless you know YOUR Business Purpose.
Too often SBOs are walking around with an unconscious Business Purpose. They created a business, but can’t define or express their business’s purpose in a simple sentence.
The key is not to hide YOUR Solid Business Purpose. The power is when you reveal it. It needs to come to the surface and be shared with YOUR Marketplace.
Once you create a solid Business Purpose, you can swiftly create YOUR Vision and Mission Statements and YOUR XYZ Statements.
Covey had it right when he said “First Things First“. This is the application of it for SBOs! Let’s make it clear why people should engage with YOUR Business. Now, get busy working on true priorities!
