Purpose and Passion: for it is why we exist
Purpose and Passion – what’s yours?
Are you and your business purposeful?
Do you know the impact your purpose holds?
Purpose and passion drive us. For some, it is more passion. For others, it is more purpose. The two naturally go hand in hand. Lately, it seems there are a great deal of people inquiring about their purpose and passion in life. This is great! This means many of us are moving beyond ourselves and are ready to serve humanity with intent. Purpose and Passion support our Business Success.
As you know I enjoy movies, and even though this isn’t a Business Movie Review, I’d like to share a movie to help us really understand that purpose and passion IS why our businesses exist! You don’t need to be familiar with the movie at all to understand it’s message. The movie quote comes from “The Matrix Reload” (2003):
Agent Smith: “But, as you well know, appearances can be deceiving, which brings me back to the reason why we’re here. We’re not here because we’re free. We’re here because we’re not free. There is no escaping reason; no denying purpose. Because as we both know, without purpose, we would not exist.”
[Several Agent Smith Clones walk in]
Clone 1: “It is purpose that created us.”
Clone 2: Purpose that connects us.
Clone 3: “Purpose that pulls us.”
Clone 4: “That guides us.”
Clone 5: “That drives us.”
Clone 6: “It is purpose that defines us.”
Clone 7: “Purpose that binds us.”

I love this… Without purpose, we would not exist. Wow, now that’s powerful!
Identifying if your business is
purpose-driven and passion-driven?
Your business purpose is the reason you open the doors in the morning. It is the issue you want resolved for other people or businesses. It’s very basic and typically a one-liner. There is nothing too fancy about it – just saying why you created YOUR Business. YET, this little one-liner can open the door to everyone who is in your target market. There’s a big marketplace out there. Your business’s one-liner of purpose will speak to your ideal customer! Isn’t this cool?
Your business’s purpose and passion is what
connects you to your ideal customer
Doubt me? Reread what Agent Smith Clones 1-7 say. This is true! This is what connects you to your ideal customers… your purpose! It holds all the glue for your ideal customers to connect with you. They have a need and you hold a solution. Your purpose helps others fulfill their purpose. Purpose and passion can connect, pull, guide, drive, define, and bind you and your customers with minimal effort – of course that’s once you let them know you exist! Isn’t this awesome?
Are you and your business purposeful?
This may seem like a Captain Obvious moment here… but are you? So often entrepreneurs take their passion and create a business of it (or create this as a vocation, which can be a thriving business). Sometimes this is good and other times it will just suck the living joy right out of the passion.
Typically, when people find their purpose and passion they see it as an opportunity to serve humanity. They offer solutions to others. There is a deep-seated drive for helping others get this relief. This is when entrepreneurs are most successful. Why? They and their business know how to direct their purpose and passion! Do you?
Stepping into your vocation or professional purpose may not always be easy. It’s a different journey for each of us 🙂 Take some time this week to contemplate YOUR Vocation. If you want a tickler when I introduced the topic: Click here to learn about YOUR Purpose and How it can guide you.
