Obstacles occur in many shapes and sizes. Obstacles will always exist. Why then, do we allow them to kick us in the butt so much?
Ongoing obstacles are the norm
Throughout history humankind has been bombarded by obstacles. Plagues, famine, warring, and catastrophic climate events are continuously experienced on our great planet. Imagine what would have happened if the citizens of Pompeii would have surrendered to their circumstance? Or what if the Europeans, during the Black Plague era, chose to lie down along side the dead instead of find solutions to minimize its impact?
Obstacles of progression can get the best of us too!
Many are grumbling about how technology requires us to move at lightening speed. Imagine if you lived in a time when you went from horse drawn buggies to automobiles, writing letters and having the carried by horse to talking on a phone, or even making candles to flipping a light switch. Everything is relative.
Our technological advancements over the past 20 years are significant, but may not be the biggest leaps in technological progression. Ponder for a moment – people getting into elevators or flying planes was great mystic and adventure. I think living during those time would have been mind-blowing!
Minimizing obstacles is a possibility
Emmet Fox wrote, “lift your consciousness above the level where you met the problem.” In today’s fast moving society and business this is great advise. Are we still allowing ourselves to stay in the victimhood of our problem and obstacles or are we finding ways to minimize or use them to our advantage by learning from them? It really can be this simple!
