Why does Your WHY matter?
It give you direction. Without YOUR WHY, you don’t have a clear vision of what you are trying to accomplish in the marketplace – much less YOUR Marketplace!
Once you can identify AND express what you are doing in YOUR Marketplace, you can accomplish it.
Stephen R. Covey teaches this in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, as “Begin with the End in Mind”.
Think of your WHY as YOUR Destination. If you know where you want to end up – you can guide yourself there, right? This isn’t new information. It’s actually been taught for centuries.
I have a favorite quote that’s been around for a long time:
“He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.”
WARNING: This is where most Small Business Owners (SBOs) get snagged! They start traversing on this journey before they know their destination. Why? We’re addicted to “doing” instead of slowing down to be with what we’re about to take on.
By knowing why you’re doing what you’re doing, you can endure many obstacles and challenges to assure your success.
Too often SBOs get caught in the DO-ing. Once this occurs, SBOs become overwhelmed and don’t bring in enough money.
Without knowing WHY they are conducting business, they don’t know if they are arriving and accomplishing their goal.

There’s a great book which addresses this topic quite well, “Start with Why” by Simon Sinek. Even though the book isn’t designed specifically for the SBO, you can adapt the read to address both your personal and professional realms.
From hundred of years ago, to this century – YOUR Why is crucial to you succeeding in whatever your goal is for YOUR Business.
