What can “Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation”
teach us about the business strategies:
Perhaps, Perseverance, & Completion?

Brilliant Breakthroughs Business Movie Reviews emerged because movies are a great way to be inspired and/or learn from a fresh perspective! Mission Impossible gave us it’s first “wow” on TV. Then Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt took it to the big screen and dazzled us with his suspended fall into a secured government intelligence quarters. Remember those outrageous border-crossing chases?

The latest installment of the Mission Impossible Saga is Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation. It is outstanding! It delivers. The story line is realistic and relevant to how organizations strategize. Don’t worry, no spoilers here. I strongly suggest you go see this great movie of action and super-sleuthing. Let’s not forget the juicy story lines of disavowed agents and debunking arrogant leaders!

“Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation”
Strategy #1: Playing “The Perhaps” Game

Effective espionage requires agents knowing what to do and when to do it. More importantly when to have a goal and take action versus considering something as a possibility in the future. Spies live their lives playing “The Perhaps” Game. Perhaps this will happen. Perhaps that will happen. Always being ready to adapt along the way for what is happening.

Do you play “The Perhaps” Game enough to assure your business’s success?

“Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation”
Strategy #2: Perseverance

For missions to be accomplished they need concentrated effort and actions. As with many projects in life Ethan needs a team to accomplish his goal. Some of his team members become naysayers. Sometimes naysayers serve a team well. They spur the team or individual to take action according to their convictions.

Perseverance is essential for the impossible to become possible. Throughout the movie, Ethan Hunt is endlessly required to step into the impossible and unconquerable to complete his mission. Each time he does, he is exhilarated by the success. Additionally, his team supports his hunch or intuition. By sticking to the mission against all odds, our favorite agent delivers.

Are you relentless in your pursuit of your goals?

“Mission Impossible-Rogue Nation”
Strategy #3: Completion

Ethan Hunt must find a way to bring the Syndicate down. He will do anything and everything possible to fulfill his mission. He continues to mention how nothing is appropriate except the completion of his self-imposed mission. Without his team, our favorite agent would not be successful.

Too often people get really close to completing a project and then quit. They settle for failure instead of success. Unfortunately this usually happens only a couple of actions from completing their project/mission. Only the completion of a mission or the project is satisfactory for this agent.

Do you work to complete your projects/missions? Do you celebrate once you complete your mission?
