Daydream Your Way to
Small Business Success
When was the last time you snapped yourself right out of a daydream?
I bet you’re smiling right now – sorta like you were caught in a guilty pleasure. Don’t worry, I’m a big supporter of the magical moments of daydreaming!
Are Small Business Owners providing value when they daydream? You betcha!
It’s amazing how something that we have naturally done since childhood can become one of the most important activities possible for YOUR Business Success.
Each year I blog about this topic at least once and usually twice. It’s so important that when I reviewed this one from 2011, I decided to touch it up a bit with some new information for you!
Once upon a daydream…
Think back to when you were young. Do you remember being told to “Stop daydreaming!”
Were you under the impression that creating a daydream was a “bad thing” to do? Well, maybe it’s time we dust off the old perceptions of “the daydream”.
Let’s take another look at daydreaming or envisioning and explore how to utilize it to successfully position YOUR Business.
Even though I’m stating daydreaming, I’m actually referring to envisioning in this post. Yet, I don’t want to diminish to power of la-la land daydreaming.
What is the one thing all the top CEOs do without fail?
Envision their company’s success for 20 minutes every day.
BRILLIANT BREAKTHROUGHS BIG DAYDREAM QUESTION:
If the top performing CEOs are doing this everyday without fail, could this be one of the keys for YOUR Small Business Success?
Could it really be this simple? Consistently making time to do this by yourself to assure YOUR Business thrives!
Could it be as simple as routinely setting aside time to review what’s in front of you and ponder the next steps?
“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”
~ Henry David Thoreau
Client’s Effectiveness via Routine Daydream Practice
A client I’ve been working with for a while was surprised that her business world was unraveling. We started super-sleuthing to discover what happened. She realized a lapse in her daily practice of “Envisioning Potential” for her business.
She recalled it was one of the first things I asked her to do when we began our coaching relationship. Then she stated, “It worked like magic and when I do it consistently, my business bloomed.”
Next we discussed that her business floundered when she didn’t do her envisioning technique. She pondered why she allowed it to lapse when it was highly effective. Her answer? It was too easy. Too easy that it just slipped through the cracks and didn’t do it.
It’s the same reason why we don’t drink enough water a day or get enough movement… it’s not arduous to make it a mental priority. Similar to basic self-care, the benefits of this simplistic technique proved successful for her (and others)!
NOTE: The clarity that comes from practicing the daydream – envisioning technique for just 20 minutes a day is phenomenal! It provides sound direction for good decisions and right actions to consistently occur.
Most smaller businesses may not even need 20 minutes a day because their business is less complex. What if you, a Small Business Owner, practiced this for 10 minutes a day? Do you think this daydream technique would bring you clarity and appropriate direction? I do!
Isn’t it great to know that we may have found one of your keys to success? Give it a shot and after a week, comment as to what results you are experiencing!
