4th Quarter Decisions in Small Business
4th Quarter decisions are plentiful for all Small Business Owners (SBOs). If you’re like most SBOs, what you do, or don’t do, over the next few weeks may determine if YOUR Business’s Performance meets or exceeds its expectations. So what should you do?
This is the time of the year I cringe when I hear what most SBOs have planned to wrap up the year. They either say:
- I’m going to end this year on a bang by going for it.
- I’m going to take the rest of the year off and hit it hard the beginning of next year.
The latter response appears to be much more common; yet, it isn’t necessarily best for most SBOs. Why? They haven’t met their annual performance goals and there’s still 6 weeks to shine brightly and crush those goals!
If you need a break, take a break for a couple of days. Then come back and finish the year out really strong. You know, giving it your all!
Every years I address this situation during this time of the year. It’s easy – far too easy to slack right about now.
I’ve seen many SBOs sweet-talk themselves into allowing the misleading notion that no one is conducting business these last 6 weeks of the year. WRONG! The people what are serving their marketplace are crushing their revenue goals because there’s little to no competition!
Where did everyone go? Some are SBOs, who have deserved and earned vacations. Unfortunately, most SBOs just decided to ease off the reigns and slide gently into the new year. If that serves you and YOUR Business well, then congrats! However, if you’re like most SBOs, it doesn’t. Therefore, you shouldn’t behave in such a manner. That’s right, I just said should and shouldn’t!
4th Quarter Decisions Matter
When you’re considering which 4 Quarter decisions work best for you, be mindful of what YOUR Business needs from you to perform optimally.
Maybe it does need you to take a couple of days off and then come back refreshed. Perhaps it needs for you to push through and shine like Rudolph’s red nose.
IMPORTANT TIP: This might not be about you. The better decisions may be reached by asking yourself, “What serves my marketplace the best?” or “What will serve my business the best?”
4th Quarter decisions can be this simple. Start by asking the questions above, be mindful of your truth, and act appropriately. If you do, you may surprise yourself and be wrapping up the year much stronger than you ever thought possible!
