2016 Olympians model the pursuit of excellence for Business Owners

2016 Olympians illustrated the a golden shimmering global map with a little medal label stating "Rio: 2016".
The 2016 Olympians taught Business Owners the power of commitment and pursuit of excellence.

The 2016 Olympians of the Summer Games gave us exceptional examples of excellence. They also revealed the power of pursuit. Some of the 2016 Olympians are more noteworthy than others. Two of the most memorable 2016 Olympians didn’t even win medals. Remember the two female runners who captured our hearts when they supported each other’s injured bodies to the the finish line? They helped us remember the spirit of the Games while exhibiting the human pursuit of excellence.

Then there were notable performances from 2016 Olympians who could only excel. They soared to new heights just crushing old records. American swimmer Michael Phelps poured it on. Phelps showed us why he is the most decorated Olympian. American gymnast Simone Biles revealed to the world why she is a powerful force. During each event Biles consistently flew higher than any of her competitors and stuck her landings with a powerful punch.

“Hard work has made it easy. That is my secret.
That is why I win.”

~Nadia Comaneci

Each of the 2016 Olympians committed their life to their sport and training. All of them go home with at least one medal – the Medal of the Olympian. Olympians whose pursuit of excellence and commitment is graced with an extra-ordinary performance earn more medals. I equate this to Business Ownership. If you survive another year in business you claim the title of Business Owner. If you can excel and dominate YOUR Marketplace you win big!

Do you show up to work and perform as if you are trying to win a Gold Olympic Medal?

Small Business Ownership is a blessing. I always start getting squeamish when I see Business Owners getting lax. It’s most noticeable when their follow through is lacking. It’s the beginning signs of poor performance creeping into their business. If you know YOUR Performance is slipping, it’ll only be a matter of time before YOUR Business will reflect this. Be YOUR Business’s Leader and change your direction quickly.

Lackluster Performance Tips:

  1. Re-engage with your goals.
  2. Find a mentee to rekindle your hopefulness.
  3. Get some skills training or coaching – just like the pros.
  4. Develop and launch a new offering to serve your clients.
  5. Take me up on a No-cost Consultation! I love sharing insights.

With deep appreciation, I thank the 2016 Olympians for warming my heart and inspiring me to excel. I look forward to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Hey, only 544 days until another Olympic Opening Ceremony!

I’m curious, which 2016 Olympian or sport inspired you? Share your answer in the comment section.
