Celebrating Success is a key productivity power move! When was the last time you accomplished something and celebrated it? Perhaps an easier question is when did you last accomplish something and not celebrate it?
Think back. Were you too busy slaying dragons all day long to remember to do the Happy Dance? Could be; yet, your productivity needs you to stop and do this to improve YOUR Business’s Performance.
Why does celebrating success have favorable impact?
The short answer: like attracts like. Have you, or someone you know, done some traveling and attracted the Travel Bug? This is a great example of like attracts like. When we have a dopamine hit of a positive feel good, we want another.
Then all the sudden you want to perform the necessary tasks required of you to get the reward. Don’t believe me yet? Any parent who wants their child to clean their bedroom usually employs this technique. Why? It’s quite effective because we’re all wired the same on this point!
Small Business Owners Celebrating Success
Celebrating success can come in many different shapes and sizes. Some Small Business Owners (SBOs) celebrate by leaving their workplace and doing something to improve their fitness, others may travel, others treat themselves (and loved ones) to an event, or other SBOs may just take a well deserved time out midday.
It really doesn’t matter how you celebrate – it matters that you do!
Be good to yourself and honor your journey. Each time you accomplish a milestone of your journey, what could you do to celebrate? What would keep you motivated to push yourself a little further into a difficult project to see it come to completion? Come on, get creative!
In 2 weeks a big project will come to fruition. Our first book in the annual Anthology Series: Brilliant Breakthroughs for the Small Business Owner: Fresh Perspectives on Profitability, People, Productivity, and Finding Peace in Your Business will be released (see more below regarding how to get your copy). I am working to have a moment with each author (if possible) to celebrate with them when I give them their proof of our book. It’s important to take a moment to smile and say, “Yay!”
What are you working on right now? Do you need to take a break to acknowledge your progress? Probably. Go ahead, take your well deserved time out! What are you going to do? When are you going to do it? Now, this week, or this month?
