3 Steps to Avoid
Small Business Burnout!
It’s time for a heart-to-heart about Small Business Burnout. Small Business Owners are notorious for experiencing burnout at different levels; yet, I assure you, it’s avoidable.
Are you thinking, “Right, Maggie, you have no idea what I’m dealing with right now”? That’s fair. I agree I don’t know what you are dealing with right now.
However, I do know what it’s like to (face/experience) burnout. To kick it out of my life, I’ve allowed myself and my business to evolve over the years. I’ve had to ask myself the BIG QUESTION I’m going to ask you: How are you managing what life and business are asking of you?
Small Business Burnout is Real
Do you ever wonder if this burnout thing is real or you’re making it out to be something bigger than it really is? Reality check: It may fluctuate and/or it may be both at times!
I’m surprised how many SBOs have recently shared in passing how they are exhausted. Others are freaking out in the state of overwhelm. Many are discussing how they are having difficulty navigating keeping up with everything, while others are revealing their difficulty of attaining success.
Let’s be real: Small Business Ownership isn’t for the faint of heart. We are required to make miracles happen daily—perhaps hourly! Yes, you are well on your way to earning your sainthood. This is all fine and dandy, but it doesn’t resolve how crispy around the edges you are feeling. So what’s an SBO to do?
3 Steps to Avoid Small Business Burnout
Being a productivity expert, master small business coach, and minister, I have some really practical solutions on how to recover your sanity and start focusing on what matters most.
- Take a time out for a couple of hours. During this time, define your priorities. I assure you it isn’t about making more money. It’s more likely about having a better quality of life. (Clue: Improved quality of life is why most SBOs created a business.) Click here to learn more about priorities:
- Look at your calendar. Is how you are spending your time in direct relationship to what your priorities are? This is the other big gap requiring consistent mindfulness for most SBOs. Click here to learn more about consistency:
- Next, proactively build “productive pauses” and “cushion” into your schedule—and keep these appointments with yourself. Click here to learn more about productive pauses: Do you keep the main thing the main thing? Click here to learn more about cushion: Business Owners being crushed by their To Do List
These are simple and high-impact steps for you to take to improve your productivity.
FYI: For over 20 years, all the research continues to reveal it’s necessary for you to take more time off to be more productive.
