Why don’t we learn how to identify gaps?
If we learn how to identify gaps then we feel an obligation to do what it takes to bridge the gap. I’ve heard people say, “If something isn’t acknowledged, it doesn’t exists.” To that, I say poppycock! Here’s the straight talk: laziness, or sheer exhaustion, keeps most gaps wide open. We see it all over the place.
My neighbors just took on a puppy this summer. I’ve witnessed them as they identify gaps with the new puppy and build bridges to minimize issues. The latest one I saw was that when it’s raining the dog gets toweled off, including paws, before it enters the house. This minimizes all the floor clean up and the wet dog smell. The astute pet owners have identified the gap, and built the bridge to simplify their life.
THIS IS THE RUB: WHEN WE IDENTIFY GAPS IT USUALLY MEANS MORE WORK!
THIS IS THE BENEFIT: BRIDGING GAPS ALWAYS SIMPLIFIES
BIG TIP: We must authentically assess the situation to clearly understand the gap. Only then can we be mindful of the gap and bring forth an effective bridging.
Be mindful and identify as many gaps as possible. Make it a game and watch how simplified your professional and personal life will function – dare I say, Peace-filled Productivity!
