Concentration Matters!

     Concentration Strategy & Tips
for next week!

“To inspire a singularity of focus, a challenge must be important to you and
it must be something you feel you should do now in this moment. It it’s trivial
or not time-bound, you won’t engage. So in selecting your next challenge in life,
choose one that is meaningful and will demand your complete concentration.”
~Bendon Burchard

Your “Concentration” Awareness:

How are you doing on completing your tasks for this week? Last week I wrote about being a Business Owner/Leader and Task Manager. Click here to see the Tips for being an excellent Task Manager.

Today, I’m writing this at 6:30pm on Friday evening. Would you like to guess how I’m doing with tasks this week? At first glance it may appear that I’m in much worse shape than I am. Yep, I took on some extra projects this week. One of which nearly brought me to my knees! Yet, here I am completing my tasks in a concentrated fashion.

Key word: concentration. When we mentally concentrate on what we need to accomplish we usually accomplish it. Have you ever noticed that when your mind isn’t concentrating or focusing on something it isn’t as much of a priority? How then, does a Business Leader keep concentration on what needs to be accomplished, as well as all the other million things that are on your plate?

Business Strategies & Concentration Tips:

I’m going to start with the obvious: this is one thing you just can’t outsource! So if you can’t outsource concentration activities what can you do to become better at concentrating on your tasks?

5 Steps to Help YOUR Concentration and Accomplishment Levels Improve:

1. create a desire to be more concentrated on the tasks at hand*
2. make a list and prioritize your tasks
3. create a plan on what you want completed by lunchtime
4. stay on task
5. repeat after lunchtime for the second half of your workday

 * STRATEGY NOTE: Whatever you do, don’t do this while multitasking. In fact, begin by “powering down”. Take and deep breath, perhaps even close your eyes, and gain mental clarity as to what must be accomplished. Then go low-tech on step 2. Yes, you heard me right, go low-tech. There is nothing more satisfying than physically crossing a line through something on a list and then throwing it away when it is all completed!

Come on, give it a try! Do something different for a bit and watch your productivity improve. With a little more of your concentration on what must be accomplished, you will be pleased with your performance improvement. Keep me posted of your results!

  1. Love this! Can I use for one of my blogs?

I do make a list, but I haven’t prioritized–so I will begin do this now. Who is Israel A?

I now put Done! next to my crossed off list. I may start dating it too. I don’t throw the lists away–I’m keeping them as a journal of my progress. Step by step…
