During the first episode of the new Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, I heard something phenomenal that I’d like to share with you about purpose. I was amazed at how powerful this was and it is about your professional purpose (as well as purpose in general). I think you will find this fascinating!

Do you know the impact of YOUR Purpose?

Jimmy asked will for any advise and then they started speaking about Will’s advise to his kids when they started breaking into show business. Will Smith said, “Keep loving people. To make sure that your art – your art is a gift to people to help their lives be better and to be brighter… and what happens alot of times is you see people fail in this business… they are in this for their ego and they start doing it for them. Know that it’s like you’re just trying to help people just get through their day.” (Click here to see the The Tonight Show’s Will Smith clip.)

I’ve followed Will Smith’s success story since he came on the scene, it is quite amazing how he has kept his head and heart in the right place. I commend him for not doing some of the things we know other teen celebs have done. Will is a solid professional and a very focused person. I recall in an interview probably 10+ years ago, he was asked about his success. He then shared how he has faith and that every day he focuses on his written down goals, and hasn’t settled for anything less because of his continued commitment to right action to secure his goals was all he needed to ever do to accomplish it all! Not to shabby for a young guy (especially back then)! Will knows his purpose and even shared it with the world 🙂

How is YOUR Purpose unfolding?

Let’s ponder Will’s insights for a bit this week:

1. Are you allowing the love of “your art” to shine through and make lives better and brighter?
2. Are you stepping into continuous right action – especially when it is difficult?
3. Are you keeping the faith and trusting you can accomplish your goals/dreams/desires?

Stepping into your vocation or professional purpose may not always be easy for some folks. That’s OK. It’s a different journey for each of us 🙂 Take some time this week to contemplate YOUR Vocation.
