We all know that performance does matter- alot! We also know that consistency moves us toward success, if we are taking right action. Then why do we have an “all or nothing” mentality when it comes to performance?

When was the last week, or month, that you had a bull’s-eye for everything you needed to accomplish? Are you hearing people use the word perfect lately? I have. I don’t know when or why it happened, but it appears we grew up with a mentality for everything to be perfect. Yet, it is impractical to strive to such expectations!

 Business Strategy to optimize your leadership or business performance:

You are reading this because you are a Business Leader. Typically this implies you are leading or managing people or a project. Goals and deadlines are part of your workday, correct? How many of your goals require 100% at each moment? Most eventually do; however, maybe not every day. Let’s make no mistake: improving performance is a business strategy! I work with a client who is in charge of a global project. This client is superb at accomplishing necessary goals; however, I recently heard, “My boss will just need to understand there is only one of me. It is my job to make decisions throughout the day regarding which project gets my full attention in that moment – everything isn’t urgent”. This is true. Everything isn’t urgent!

Here’s a great business strategy to apply this week: Review your projects and/or To-Do List. Discern what is a must for today. Put your efforts there. At day’s end, be satisfied with the concentrated focus you have given this particular project. Perhaps it is completed; perhaps it is not. Regardless, progress was made. Congratulations! That’s a successful day. Now repeat, by planning each day’s progress the day prior for the next week and learn how much you can accomplish!
