Getting Fresh in Spring

this year? Many people and businesses don’t take the time to freshen up their approach, look, and feel often enough for their business. Are you one of them?

Let’s start with something simple: your workspace. When was the last time you had an urge to tidy it up? Did you wipe down or dust the surfaces? What about those coffee spills or crumbs… waiting for the Desk Fairy to get to them before you do? OK, so maybe your desk is a smaller scale of Einstein’s chaos desk theory in practice – don’t all geniuses have some clutter as they are creating their masterpiece?

Even though I just dove into your personal workspace, my real focus today is “how fresh is your business appearing to your clients”?  Now some of you may not look at this as a business strategy. I’m here to share with you it is and it is impacting you when others do it probably more than you may realize!

Let’s talk about retailers. They are always changing their merchandise throughout the year to entice you to buy (more frequently). Do you do this with your clients? Even grocery stores will re-merchandise their aisles so you buy ham during certain holidays and turkey during others… of course let’s not forget how everything else for that particular season meal they are suggesting you need to purchase is conveniently within an arms reach of your main course!

Ready for another? What about the infamous golden arches? Once a year, in our area, they offer a particular sandwich and only during that time of the year. How do I know this? My husband waits for this sandwich to appear each winter! To him they have a whole new menu. Really, they don’t; they just temporarily added one new thing. Yet, his perception is they are fresh in their approach to serving him… and he becomes a customer 🙂

When was the last time you were fresh in your marketplace?

Have you taken time to create a business strategy to appear fresh? You don’t necessarily need to revamp your logo or website like I am in process of doing – that’s a different business strategy (re-branding). However, what if you would

choose a business strategy to:

  • promote a different product/service every two months or quarter
  • start a newsletter
  • add another outlet of social media to your marketing
  • create a new program/offering
  • start a blog to showcase your expertise
  • go paperless
  • read a book a month to expand your knowledge of your field’s expertise
  • go to 2 workshops/seminars to improve your expertise

Any of these, or a combination of them, could give your customers and prospects a feeling of you being fresh. It creates intrigue. They want to see the new thing you are up to – allow the natural curiosity of our humanness to work in your favor as you create awesome experiences for your customers!
