YOUR BUSINESS RESCUE COACH ASKS YOU:
Do you have a mentor?
Are you a mentor to another?
Do your best business strategies let you down? Let’s see if YOUR Business Rescue Coach can share the importance of another business strategy with you to improve your business even a bit further!
This past week I have had several conversations with clients and other wonderful people. It appears that mentoring is in great demand in our marketplace! Whether you are a entrepreneur – business owner, or a corporate business leader, everyone needs a mentor.
A good mentor will…
- listen to you (remember: this isn’t a gripe session)
- pose a few questions to help you expand your thoughts even further
- impart wisdom of things to watch out for that may hinder progress
- support and encourage you if you are going down the right path
- even advise you that you may be headed down the wrong path
You see, good mentors are priceless! If you know of someone that you would like to be your mentor… someone who you would allow to correct your arrow midstream, then ask them to be your mentor. If you haven’t done this before, tell them, perhaps they have. If you both are inexperienced at it, try it for a couple of months and see if you are gaining valuable insights to assist your evolution both personally and professionally. If not, release the relationship and seek another.
The simplest way to look at mentorship is as “wisdom sharing”. Mentor shares wisdom to mentee. Mentee applies wisdom and shares the impact of this new way. Some mentoring relationships are “free”, most are not. At the very least, the mentee should “gift” the mentor for taking the time and sharing this priceless intelligence. Yes, I do mentoring in and of itself from time to time. And as many of my clients are thinking right about now… yes, I do a mentoring-coaching hybrid with you too!
