Business Strategy: Are you a great Technician and/or great Business Leader?

Hi Everyone, Your Business Rescue Coach is up to a whole lot of rescuing this week and it’s amazing how the little things are really tripping up business! (I’ll explain more in a bit.)  Well now that we really have you digging into your Ideal Customer, we will shift our focus next week to start discovering how to effectively convey our messages to our clients 🙂

But this week I just want to share something with you that came up in three different conversations this week: “Just because someone is an expert at _______ doesn’t necessarily mean that they are an excellent business owner, leader, or manager.” Conversely, just because someone is a great business owner, leader, or manager doesn’t make them an expert at _____.

So, let’s just think about this a bit….

How often have you noticed that most small businesses open their doors because the owner or leadership team is quite proficient at producing an exceptional product and/or service?

Quite often, this is the case. However, how many folks do you know that have this expertise, which is often referred to as a “technician”, has an expertise at business? I just don’t see this too often and I get why; if they had an expertise or technician status in business they wouldn’t be making widgets, styling hair, opening grocery stores, and/or giving massages, would they? Nope, they would probably be doing something very different!

So my discovery is simple for you and me today:

If you need a little coaching or support in your area of expertise as a technician, than do yourself a favor and reach out to someone you respect that can guide you through the turbulence of your learning curve as a technician. If you need a little coaching or support in the area of business, than do yourself a favor and reach out to someone you respect that can guide you through the turbulence of your business learning curve.

Why? Each one of these components is equally important! Ponder this over the weekend and take appropriate action! If you are stumped as to where to turn, give me a call and I will put you in the best direction I am aware of – I love giving referrals 🙂 Yep, I know this isn’t the norm for most folks but that’s the power of learning how to build a network – trusted referrals with ease and accuracy!
