Business Strategy: Successful Holiday and Year End Business Activities

Are you caught with your pants down, again?

Does the Year End (business speak for “end of your business year”)
and the Holidays catch you by surprise?

Guess what, I just created an awesome surprise for everyone – read on!

If so, you aren’t alone! Being mindful of your productivity and time are always accentuated at this time of year. Perhaps I will do a refresher about that in the next week or so! But let’s get back to this topic…

Last week I was on a client visit and we were discussing marketing strategies to generate some phenomenal dollars before the year end. While were were looking at their Production and Revue  Pace for the year, we began talking about the plans for boosting Holiday gift sales. I was surprise to hear that they didn’t put out all their Holiday gift items prior to the week of Thanksgiving. Now, I completely respect keeping the spirit of not commercializing until after Thanksgiving; yet, it isn’t a good business strategy for a lot of businesses that focus on personal care, as this one did.

Get ready, the story gets a little better… it turns out that one of their busiest weeks of the year for this particular client  is the week of Thanksgiving! For those of you who are saying, “Oh, I should be paying attention right now, that’s me!”, don’t feel bad. Most people, except for big retail marketing departments just don’t think this way 🙂

How many times will you be seeing your customers
between now and before Christmas?

Will you have Christmas gift items or end of the year blow out prices for them at the beginning of the shopping season (when they still have cash)? Or will you wait until mid-December and be battling with other providers for the exact same money your customers would have gratefully given to you in November or early December? The choice is yours. In many businesses, this one simple business success strategy will impact your revenue so significantly that you almost won’t believe it!!!

Urgent Action Item for YOU:
1.TODAY, yes, TODAY! Make time in your schedule to address this real business need and strategy.

2. Guard it with your life – this is very important to ending your year strong, or even in the black, for some!

3. Review your history, when are you experiencing heavy customer volume? If you need to move all these activities up as soon as mid-November, do so!

Note: If you only see your customers once a month, than accept this as your golden opportunity! Begin planning now. I’m sure you would like to have a beautiful and large golden egg in your nest as your flip your calender to 2012, with a joyful sigh and big smile on your face.
