How many Testimonials do you have gathered?
Perhaps an even more powerful question is: What are you doing with your business’s testimonials? Most people will accept the ones they receive and maybe place them on their website or just have them in a folder. Here’s my favorite one I was told: “I know they are… somewhere, here on my desk”-yikes!
It’s clear most of us aren’t understanding how important these Snippets of Kudos are to building our (1) credibility, and (2) self-confidence on a really frustrating and crummy day (don’t tell me that I’m the only one who has these from time to time)! Ah, I just revealed one of the ways you can use testimonials – when you need a puppy-upper 🙂
Let’s talk a little bit more about the more traditional benefits of testimonials provide your business. Yup, we will over-simplify this one, as we do with all our topics! The primary reason you should always be gathering Powerful Testimonials from ALL your customers is you never know when you will need it.
From time to time you should switch out your testimonials on your website to freshen it up. Additionally, you will need different testimonies to reflect whatever message you want to get across to your potential customers.
Let’s say you want several different testimonies to:
- Reflect how you are an expert at what you do – get those and use them where you need to reflect that.
- Perhaps you are developing a new offering that needs to reflect the compassionate and patient person you are to assist you customer. You would use testimonies that reflect those attributes to address what your potential customers may be pondering about your personality and professionalism.
I’m sure right about now you are realizing that you need a bunch of testimonies. Yes, you do! EVERY time you have a satisfied customer ask, “I would really appreciate you writing a testimonial regarding your experience of working with me and what you have gained from our time together. Would you be interested in helping me in this manner so others can understand how I can help them too?” The answer is usually, “Yes, I’d be happy to do this!”
Can you guess what my project is? I need updated testimonies for a fresh and focused look as I rebuild my website 🙂
YOUR ACTION ITEM:
Build a list of happy customers. Contact them and ask the question I wrote. Tell them that you need it in 2 weeks. Apply accordingly. Note: If you would like to them to address something in particular, ask them (it is their truth, they will do it). AND while you are speaking with them, ask how you may be able to serve them.
