YOUR Business Rescue Coach asks:
Why, oh why, is it just so darn tough?
Have you considered having a Mentor become YOUR Ace in your pocket?
The number one reason why I think it is” so darn tough” is because entrepreneurs are blinded by their passion and/or their calling to serve, that they don’t take the time to make sure they have some key elements in place first and consistently. (See May 7, 2012’s post for complete list)
One of the Five Key Elements to Swiftly Build a Strong and Profitable Business:
Mentor: A person who has wisdom to impart to those who seek guidance.
Have you ever found yourself saying, “Gee, if I only knew what to expect” or “A little tenure would be helpful right about now”? This is such an important element to success that even the most tenured folks have mentors. Yes, really they do!
So what is the benefit of having a mentor on your personal team?
The main benefit is you have someone who is wise and you trust them to teach/guide you. Of course when you select a mentor you want to make sure that they have an expertise regarding the topic you seek counsel.
Criteria to consider as you select a mentor:
- Do they have the experience in the topic you seek counsel?
- Do they have an expertise that can benefit you?
- Do they have time to mentor you?
- Do they want to engage in the mentoring process?
- Do you like each other?
- Can you take possible direction from this mentor?
YOUR Business Rescue Coach Asks YOU the most important question about mentoring:
Are you ready to receive wise counsel and respond accordingly?
TIP:
Make sure that you create some type of fair exchange with your mentor. Remembering that everyone’s time is valuable. Even if you mentor doesn’t charge you, make sure that you appropriately gift them with a meaningful exchange.
