Business Strategy: Com’on… you know what to do next :)

YOUR BUSINESS RESCUE COACH ASKS YOU:
Do you know what to do next?
Do you have a mile long “To Do” List?

I ran across a quote on Friday afternoon as I was going through some motivational material. This one quote really reached out and grabbed a hold of me as something very important to share with you:

The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do.
The hard part is doing it.
~ Norman Schwartzkopf, USA Army General

Boy, isn’t this the truth of it?!?!? If you are like me, your “To Do” List is a mile long. The cool thing is I learned a while ago that it is similar to the video game Tetris- there’s always a lot of moving parts. It truly is never ending! The other thing you quickly learn is that as all the parts are continuously moving. Does this sound like your list? It describes mine perfectly 🙂

Question:
So if everything is constantly moving and never ending, how do you know what to focus on?

Answer:
Be still. Be very quiet. Now ask one very important question: “What needs my immediate attention today?” Write down your answer. Then ask your next question: “What needs my immediate attention tomorrow?” Write down your answer and immediately create a quick little plan to move into action.

YOUR Business Rescue Coach’s Logic to the Answer:
The General had it right – we always know what we should be doing (eat right, drink lots of water, be compassionate, forgive others, get a good night’s sleep). The key is we don’t perform well on the “shoulds”, we perform much better on the “oooh, I like this”, don’t we? (Tip: Delegate the things you don’t do well or detest doing to someone who is good at handling it.)

If your business is a baby, it too has poopey diapers to change from time to time (that’s the stuff we always try to avoid). And yet, like a baby’s diaper, if we don’t tend to it in a timely and appropriate manner, it simply becomes one big old mess, right?

Let’s become more conscientious business owners and tend to our baby’s needs before a nasty rash sets in 🙂 You created your business. Giving it a little more TLC will go a very long way! My Pappa’s voice is echoing, “Whatever you make, just take good care of it”.  Please share your thoughts in the comment section…
