Business Strategy: 3 Tips via Bruce Springsteen

Perseverance, Production, & Pampering Customers

Last week Bruce Springsteen was honored on one of the late night network shows. My husband, an avid fan regardless of which era Bruce was in, recorded Friday night’s program. Why? They were having Bruce Springsteen as a guest and perform 2 new songs from him album/CD which is released today.

I noticed they showed Bruce in many different outfits. To the die hard fans you may have wanted to call them costumes… do you ever recall seeing Bruce in a red satin dress shirt with a flared collar? Surprise! He circa’d it to be the late 70s 🙂 It was funny to see some of them! While they were showing how his image altered through the years I thought of the perseverance of not only learning how to define his image, but much moreso about become a master lyricist.

About two weeks ago my husband I watched a documentary on Bruce, which devoted half of the program to his ability to produce lyrics and the gift of being a perfectionist. This made me thing of how Madonna is the same way about her music and performances. Guess that’s why they are a “first name icons”!!! The passion of such extra-ordinary artists is noted in their love to produce, and only producing the best – unlike many other recent artists.

Now Bruce’s new CD has some great new songs on it. His lyrics are relevant to what is occurring in our homes. He found it folks, just like he always does, a way to relate to the music. At the end of the show Bruce and The E Street Band as well as the house’s band jammed. Bruce, true to form, who performs for his fans/customers, ended the show by inviting everyone in the audience to come down on the stage and dance with them. The energy was electrifying! The buzz was everywhere! I believe everyone who was on that stage is out buying his CD this week! Sheer brilliance in customer service and marketing. Why do I say this, my husband said he wished he was there on the stage too.

I will be getting the album/CD  for my honey while you are reading this. My husband also said, “I want to see him the next time he comes to town, do you?” Instantly, two tickets sold – way to go Bruce!  Thanks for deeply touching our hearts and making our bodies move and groove all these years!

  1. Another great blog, Maggie! Often times I will want to do what I want to do and not necessarily what my customers want out of me; I am trying to move away from this disconnected mindset. This blog posts reminds me again of the need to satisfy my clients with their needs, not my own. I recently adheared to this advice by setting up a new website that catered specifically to what many of my customers are asking from me. By aligning myself more in this direction, I too hope to go the long haul like Bruce and Madonna. Thanks for message and Keep on rocking’!

    1. Soooo totally!!! We had the program we recorded so we were able to watch it twice. What a great skit! I wasn’t able to stop and get the CD yesterday so I will be on a quest now and give my honey a very early Easter gift. Long live (good) rock n roll 🙂
