Business Strategy: Momentum

YOUR BUSINESS RESCUE COACH ASKS YOU:
Are you great at starting projects and not finishing them?
How focused are you to make “change” happen?

Are your Best Business Strategies working for you OR are you pooping out already this new year? Is there a business strategy that is letting you down? Let’s examine this via last night’s game, to determine who was America’s Football Championship Team, was phenomenal to witness the importance of momentum.  Let’s dig a little deeper…

Many were saying that the two teams: the 49ers and the Ravens were a “pretty equally matched” pair for a Championship game. During the first half of the game it didn’t appear so. Then it was halftime, there was an explosive kick-off return which created a great deal of momentum for the Ravens… and then it happened… the lights went out… everything stopped… and changed! The 49ers showed up and took over the game. They owned it – they had the momentum, not the Ravens, until the last minute of the game! How does this relate to you and business?

During day to day operations of business we have a business strategy and tactic for just about anything we need to act upon to fulfill an objective. However most objectives don’t get completed ahead of schedule, much less on time. What’s this about? Distractions! How does this relate to the game last night? Well the Ravens were smokin’ hot and the 49ers weren’t… until the lights went out and there was over a 30 minute delay. How is this relevant to your day… well, what are your distractions? Email, phone call, customers, hunger, radio or TV, or what about social media’s responses and your text messages.

Plenty of distractions are there to literally throw you off your game.  In last night’s game it actually created an opportunity for the 49ers to get their mo-jo on and perform at a very high level! Where or when do you most often let distractions keep you from producing at a high level and completing your objective, or completing it in a minimal manner?

YOUR Business Rescue Coach’s Action Items for YOUR 2013 Difference:

  1. Make a list of your common distractions- just start now.
  2. Put safeguards in place so these distractions “can’t touch you”, i.e. don’t check email and social media until 2-3 hours of work are completed, don’t turn on the TV or radio, block of time to work on your projects – as if they are an important meeting (hint: they are)! Make a list of these and start adding them, one at a time, into your new behavior so you can accomplish your objectives more effectively and efficiently 🙂
  3. When you get stuck working on a project, what are some of the things you can do to creatively pursue a high level of performance (hint: it usually isn’t email) on another item which must be completed? Make a list of these now.
  4. Don’t wait for change to occur, make it happen, just start this now and it will!

It can be very different this year…
if you plan to act upon a new business strategy in 2013!
