Swift Response Time – Why is this so important?

Wow, I just saw a commercial yesterday and it amazed me! The commercial was from Adidas and ESPN played it right after they did a segment on the Super Bowl Champs: New York Giants, and their motto of “All In”, which is what they claim helped them win the Super Bowl last week.

Now, this is definitely relevant to how we run our business, or perhaps perceive we do 🙂 Are you able to respond to your customers and support team in a timely manner? Think about it… how often have you dropped the ball lately? Cutting deadlines too close or even missing them? When you are tending to urgent things, how many of your critical items are dropped? How does stuff like this happen? I hear many business owners say this is the rule, not the exception – yikes!!!

So how does this reflect your expertise, or lack thereof? From the outside looking in, it may appear that you don’t know how to manage your productivity effectively and/or it may reflect that you don’t have the best tools to accomplish your workload. Now why is this a bad thing? It tends to reflect that you are not the “Master of YOUR Universe” – or even an expert at what you do. Thus, with less than stellar expertise, why are they allowing you to serve them? … Remember, perception is everything!

If you aren’t responding swiftly to clients, they feel neglected. This puts your relationship in jeopardy. Simply put, they don’t “feel the love” 🙁  Have you ever felt that about a business you purchased something from? Sure, we all have! I’m not so sure that I necessarily blame anyone for feeling neglected.

Furthermore, why would you want to give them such an impression? Most likely it took a bit of resources to gain this person as a customer. Keeping them satisfied is much easier and less costly than trying to attract a new customer. Take the time to give them what they really want- your sincere attention. That’s how you look like an expert!
