Business Strategy: Business Plan (Part 2)

YOUR BUSINESS RESCUE COACH ASKS YOU:
When was the last time you looked at your Business Plan?
Does your Business Plan need to be revitalized?

Are your best business strategies letting you down? Continuing from last week’s post, Business Plan Part1, is this week’s conversation about the purpose of your Business Plan. Now I get this could be confusing because we have been trained to think and interface with Business Plans differently than what I am about to share – I think my answer will make more sense for most folks here.

We were trained in business school, or by the financial institutions, that in order to start a business you must first write a Business Plan. Typically, this is deemed as an exercise to do research to validate the concept and gain funds– of course in a pretty little and powerful binder. Once this mission is accomplished, the same binder is then placed upon some shelf in the  Executive or Business Owner office. By the way, that’s the worst place for it to be!

Where should your Business Plan be?
On your desk, always handy, and it should have ruffled pages too!

To optimize your Business Plan you should be referring to it to guide your business’s strategies, decisions, and actions to assure success. What was it that you said you wanted to realize? What was it that you said would be the best way to do it? What did the research reveal as you did it?

YOUR BUSINESS RESCUE COACH’S ACTION ITEMS:

Go ahead, I invite you to take it off the shelf and reacquaint yourself with the original vision and research wisdom. Take some notes of what worked and what needs to change and why.  That’s all you have to do this week. Next week I will share with you what to do with all these golden nuggets!

NOTE: For my clients, please do this action items with your PVM Document.

I’d love to hear comments about what you learned from your Business Plan/PVM. Are you still on track?

THANKS FOR ALLOWING ME TO HELP YOU IMPROVE YOUR BUSINESS 🙂
